Finding that perfect pasta cooker should not be a chore. Many people will definitely be thrown off by the seemingly different pasta cooker designs found in nearly any upper class cookware store. Some of these designs may seem very similar to other products with the simple addition of one or two features that nobody (except for the most accomplished of professional chefs) would even use anyway. In essence, the average at-home chef should simply purchase the product that uses up the least amount of space for the amount of pasta it can cook, as many people will find that such products offer them the best value. Even though there are literally tons of selections on the market, there are essentially only two types which a pasta connouisseur can choose from.

The first type of pasta cooker, and the type most recommended by professionals and others in the world of cooking, is the type which does not use any harsh boiling water to cook the pasta thoroughly. Such products are instantly recognizable, as they are usually shaped like a simple plastic or glass tube with a cap placed on top of the opening. These versions of the classic pasta cooker make it simple and easy to cook perfect pasta every time with just a few steps. All anyone has to do is simply add hot water into the cylinder and then place as much pasta in as deemed necessary. In a few minutes, the hot water will cause the noodles to soften to a perfect consistency, at which point the noodles can be removed and instantly plated.

Alternatively, some chefs prefer the boiling water method of cookers. Such a pasta cooker will generally be seen as a large tub of water with some heating controls. Somewhat resembling a crock pot, these types of pasta cookers are essentially substitutes for simply boiling water in a pot over an open flame, as the heat is more diffused throughout the water with the cooker to give each piece of pasta a perfectly cooked texture.

PETALUMA, Calif. — This Sonoma County town has done a lot right. In its heyday, it was known for its grain mills, dairies, racehorse stables, potato farms, and fruit orchards. That commercial activity and the population both waned in the late 1800s. Then the residents decided to raise chickens.
