Some people just love certain foods. Sometimes that love extends to some exotic delicacies. Other times, it gravitates towards the mundane. But, whatever the reason, when a person finds a type of food they really like, they become a loyal consumer of it for their entire lives.
If nothing else, fans of refried beans are a loyal bunch. They are also people who are ingesting a dish that is really loaded in fat. Now, beans are an excellent source of protein and have many health benefits. They do, however, have that high fat content.
Virtually every diet of the last fifty years centered on reducing the intake of fat in one’s diet. And this was done with good reason, as animal fats are a consistent contributor to heart ailments and other maladies. So, it may be best to keep a careful eye on the fat content of refried beans or, perhaps, find an alternative.
Now, an alternative to the fatty version of the refried bean is dehydrated refried beans. Dehydrated refried beans simply requires nothing more than adding hot water to dry, dehydrated flakes of beans and voila! You have instant refried beans! But, the dehydrated refried beans are of a significantly lesser fat content than the ‘regular’ version of refried beans.
Contrary to popular belief, not all fats are bad for you. The fats found in peanuts, beans, etc are quite good for you, but one has to realize that overdoing it can turn out to have a negative effect on one’s diet. That is turning a good thing into a bad thing rather quickly. The same is true for dehydrated refried beans.
So, by eating dehydrated refried beans, one get to enjoy their favorite side dish (or, in some cases, favorite midnight snack) without absorbing all that excess fat that ends up packing on the pounds. That is a pretty good deal, wouldn’t you say?
