You've got a great office and you know it, but every time you walk into your office you feel like something is missing, that one more personal touch would make it unforgettable. Have you considered a chessboard? A board can add elegance to your office while at the same time giving you a little bit of a sophisticated air.

They can come in a variety of shapes, sizes and materials, and they can range from inexpensive to the price of a nice collector's piece that will only gain value over time. There are also themed chessboards, giving you the opportunity to get a piece that in itself can say a mountain of words about who you are and what your hobbies may be. Themed chess boards can definantly be an icebreaker to open up a conversation with someone that comes in your office.

If you decide to put one in your office, you will want to research all of the different types to find one that fits your personality and compliments your office style in just the right manner. If you want a wooden board, you can get one in oak, maple, teak, rosewood or just about any hardwood you could ever imagine or want. You can buy wood chess pieces to compliment your chessboard, or choose something that contrasts with the wood, such as pewter.

If you choose to go with a themed chessboard, you can find themes such as the Civil War, Dragon of the Realm or Isle of Lewis. These are all high end boards, so expect to pay a nice penny to add one to your office, especially if you get the matching chess pieces, and you will want them to make your chessboard more noticeable.

Whatever your style, you can find a board that compliments both you and your office and which will be a great conversation piece once it is set up.
